For the past eight years, our resident craftsperson, Mrs Foo, has protected at least three months before Chinese New Year to craft each and every piece singlehandedly. We've had to turn away orders every single year since we started in 2010 because there really is only so much a person can craft. This year, we are so thankful we found some family friends in Thailand to help our little hob-biz!
Our friend Ae and his family, as well as his long-time friends, Mr and Mrs Jai, are seasoned craftspersons based in Bangkok. They have sewn for their families and small productions for decades and we cannot be more grateful to have them come on board our Missy Messy team! Like our mother-in-law, these are dear folks who still believe in the honest goodness of slow and steady craftsmanship, and still take much pride in measuring meticulously and stitching your clothes by hand.
About half of our boys' shirts are now handmade with much love and precision in Bangkok, supervised by a dear friend Aaron, as well as Ae. We hope our increased fabric order (more than thrice our usual!) and extra hands this year will mean more happy customers and (slightly) shorter lead time!
Thank you, thank you once again for choosing to support small businesses, for treasuring handmade. We hope to do this for as long as my mother-in-law desires to and is able to. Thank you for the love for our family hob-biz!
